Now we are seeing some changes again. Access to the New York Times website from Mainland China has been blocked. n Friday morning when computer users in areas such as Beijing Guangzhou and Shanghai made attempts to view the New York Times website they only saw a message that the site was not available. This comes after many other sites such as BBC Voice of America and Asiaweek were also blocked earlier in the week. These sites were accessible again by Friday. There was no clear explanation why access to the New York Times was blocked. In fact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing told the Times that they did not have all of the details.
